After working in the funeral industry for over a decade and gaining the responsibility of managing a medium-sized team, Vinnie wanted to develop his management skills with a nationally recognised qualification. Vinnie explained: “Having only a basic knowledge of leadership and management, I realised how valuable gaining a professional qualification would be in building my own skills and for the future growth of the business.” He added: “The College was ideal with it being local to my work and offering evening classes as I could complete the course with little disruption to my work and home life.” Speaking about his experience of the course so far, Vinnie said: “I found parts of the course quite challenging at times but that’s all part of the learning process. The smaller class size gives the opportunity for individual support which has really helped my progression. I can already see the development in my skills and feel better equipped to support my team.” By taking the time to gain a recognised professional qualification, Vinnie hopes to not only have secured his own future career progression but plans to be able to make the business more successful, whilst also helping his team to progress and develop. Vinnie concluded: “I would urge anyone who is thinking of further education to go for it regardless of your age.
