During this one-year course, you will become skilled inMIGwelding using DC inverters, as well as fabricating small components using rollers, pan folders and AC resistance welding equipment. You will also have the opportunity to experience sheet metal work, plate work and oxy-fuel cuttingwhilst developing your technical drawing skills. What will I need? You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, includingmaths and science. Progression You could progress on to the level 3Technical ExtendedDiploma inEngineering at our St HelensCampus or on to an apprenticeship. Level 2 Technical Certificate Electrical Engineering Level 2Diploma Engineering Technologies - Mechanical Engineering What will I study? During this one-year course, youwill study a range of engineering techniques and advancedmanufacturing systems, whilst developing practical skills and experience in turning andmilling operations. Youwill also gain an understanding of computer aided drawing (CAD) softwarewhilst practising your drawing techniques – a technical ability that is highly valued in the industry. What will I need? You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, includingmaths and science. Progression You could progress on to the level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Engineering at our St Helens Campus or on to an apprenticeship. Level 1 Certificate Engineering and Technology - Manufacturing What will I study? This one-year course is a great introduction to the industry, providing you with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to progress to the next level of study or into employment. Based in our specialist workshops, you will develop a range of practical and employability skills, exploring all areas of engineering, frommachine operations to the principles of welding. What will I need? You do not need any formal qualifications, just passion and a commitment to your studies. Progression You could progress on to the level 2Diploma inEngineeringTechnologies –Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication andWelding, or on to an apprenticeship. What will I study? During this one-year course, youwill explore the principles, methods and technology involved in electrical/electronic engineering. Youwill also gain an understanding of engineering environmental awareness, technical drawing techniques, electrical control systems andmachinery and equipment. What will I need? You should have four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths and science. Progression You could progress on to the level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Engineering at our St Helens Campus or on to an apprenticeship. Engineering students teamed upwith the East Liverpool Riding for the Disabled Association, to create some impressive hand-crafted items using old horseshoes, includingwine and coat racks to help raise funds for the charity.
