Supported Internship The Supported Internship Programme is a partnership between Knowsley Community College and Knowsley Council, aimed at giving young people, aged 16-25with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP), the opportunity to gain valuablework experience, whichwill support their aspirations towards future employment or voluntary work. Students will participate in an extendedwork placement with the support of a JobCoach, mock interviews, industry visits and skills sector demonstrations. They will develop the practical and social skills needed to enter theworkplace through support of a JobCoach, with the end goal of achieving paid employment after the internship. 26 Our Inclusive Learning department is a friendly and nurturing environment, which supports young people with awide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Wewant our students to be fully engaged in their own choices, possessing the ability tomake informed and safe decisions about their future steps into independent living or work, as well as becoming active and productivemembers of the local andwider community. During their time at College, students have the opportunity to develop their work skills including communication and teamwork alongwith life skills such asmoneymanagement, cookery and safe travel. They will followan individualised programme of study includingmaths, English, OCR qualifications, interventions andwork experience designed tomeet their EHCP outcomes and their identified individual development. Students will leave us with skills for life and an understanding of the importance of their physical and mental wellbeing.
