Degree: BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Top-up)
Career: Trainee Business Tutor

Aspiring Business Tutor, Rachel is a great example of what can be achieved through self-belief, determination and dedication.

Having already gained experience within HR, sales and business support, Rachel was looking to undertake a business degree to equip her with the knowledge and formal qualification to launch her career in teaching, specialising in business at secondary school level.

Whilst balancing full-time employment with being a mum to a young son, Rachel began her journey at University Centre St Helens by studying the HNC Business (Management) on a flexible, part-time basis whilst continuing to work in the industry.

A year later, she progressed on to the HND Business, achieving her qualification, before setting her sights on the BA (Hons) Business Management and Administration (Top-up).

Rachel’s determination and ambition has now led her to completing the BA (Hons) business degree with full honours, and she is looking forward to celebrating this achievement later in the year with friends, family and lecturers at University Centre St Helens’ graduation ceremony.

Rachel commends University Centre St Helens, saying, “The lecturers were always on-hand to help and the small class sizes enabled me to receive the support that I needed throughout my journey, from level 4 study to level 6.”

Rachel continues, “I really have benefited from great lecturers, and I’ve made lasting friendships. Achieving my degree is something that I never thought would’ve been possible 10 years ago!”

More recently, Rachel deservedly secured a place on a Schools Direct programme, where she will be undergoing training to become a Teacher, working in a local school setting to gain experience and her teaching qualification.

Rachel adds, “I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without University Centre St Helens. Studying my degree in a relaxed setting, close to home, has made everything possible for me!”
