As you may be aware, in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 and in line with Government guidance, we have closed our College sites until further notice and have suspended all college-based teaching, instead moving to remote and online learning, to ensure wherever possible, apprentices can continue to complete their apprenticeship.

We have communicated this position to all apprentices, and they should be accessing their learning on a remote basis.

We advise the following:

  • Employers should continue to facilitate the 20% off-the-job time for learning.
  • Apprentices are to continue to log evidence of their off-the-job time and upload evidence to their OneFile journals. (If you have difficulty accessing OneFile, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
  • Apprentices will access the Virtual learning Environment (VLE) system for College learning sessions as per their existing timetable. This will include English, maths and vocational learning. Tutors will provide support via the apprentice’s College email or through Microsoft Teams. Apprentices should submit work and assignments in the usual way.
  • Assessors will not visit apprentices within the workplace; however, they will continue to facilitate appointments with apprentices to support learning and ongoing assessment and to complete any reviews due. Learning resources will be made available via OneFile and the Assessor will provide guidance on this.
  • Apprentices should inform their Assessor of any changes which may impact the completion of their apprenticeship, as part of the employer’s response to COVID-19.
  • It is still uncertain how some aspects of achievement can be managed; however, the College is working closely with awarding bodies in terms qualifications and End Point Assessments and we will update this page as additional information becomes available.

If have any questions regarding the above, please contact our Business Development Team on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

For further information regarding the changes that the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) is making to the apprenticeship programme, we’d recommend visiting the Governments guidance page.

Thank you for your support and we will provide regular updates to this page as further information emerges.
