Our music department had a visit from former student Josh Butler this week. One of St Helens College’s most successful alumni, Josh has released music with prestigious record labels such as Roush, Cajual, Madtech, Noir and more following his debut release “Got A Feeling” in 2013. Over the course of his thrilling career, Josh has received accolades from Beatport and DJ Mag, created remixes for critically acclaimed artists including Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Joris Voorn, and has even supported the legendary multi-Grammy Award-winning Nile Rodgers and Chic on their UK tour dates.

Like many of us, Josh’s career has been negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. After having a number of European tour dates cancelled due to restrictions, Josh sought to give back to his local community by returning to College to inspire and collaborate with current students. It is particularly encouraging to these students studying the same course that Josh completed to see his success first hand; Josh is living proof that completing their studies and working hard can lead to achieving their dreams.

“It's great to use the experience I've been building up in the industry and give something back to students who are starting their journey exactly where I started,” says Josh following a recording session with the student. “It has been a really inspiring experience for me personally and I've loved every minute of it!”

We’d like to thank Josh for sharing his experience and insight with our students and wish him the very best of luck for the future.
