Our Level 3 Public and Uniformed Services students recently took part in a Public and Uniformed Services tournament at Burnley College, competing against four other colleges and taking home the first place prize!

This event was the first annual Public and Uniformed Services tournament at Burnley College, which pitted students from St Helens College, Blackburn College, Bolton College, Cardinal Newman College and the hosts, Burnley College.

The students were tasked with taking part in a range of events that tested their fitness, strength and teamwork skills, including football, bench-ball and tug of war. All teams then competed in a Fitness Superstars challenge, racing to complete sets of press-ups, squat thrusts and sprints in the fastest possible time. Finally, a problem solving challenge tested the memory and recall skills of our students, using their remaining time to score as many additional points as they could.

A testament to their hard work, dedication and effectiveness as a team, our students secured the first place trophy, celebrating with their teammates and proud tutors, Grant and Kelvin.

Kelvin told us: “The students were a credit to themselves and the College, upholding the high standards we set for them in Public and Uniformed Services. They swept all in front of them on their way to victory in the tournament, and we are so very proud of them!”

Congratulations to our tournament champions, and a big thank you to Burnley College for hosting this event.
