Our Creative Arts department recently came together to celebrate the outstanding talents of our Art and Design, Graphic Design, Photography and Creative Media students at their end of year art exhibition.

The event was a chance for the department to reflect and celebrate the students’ achievements from across the year, whilst giving the students the opportunity to showcase their creations to family, friends, and tutors, displaying a range of graphics, paintings, designs, and photography.

During the event, the students were recognised for their hard work and commitment to their course with awards presented for the ‘Rising Star’, ‘Best Live Project’, and ‘Student of the Year’.

Our Level 3 Extended Diploma Art and Design Student Cal, winner of the ‘Best Live Project’ award, was recognised for his participation in an impressive project with the renowned Shakespeare North Playhouse, where he developed surface pattern designs for an outdoor seating area they were creating. Cal’s winning design was chosen by the team at Shakespeare North for its abstract and unique style, as well as its creativity and eye-catching qualities!

The ‘Rising Star’ award winner Nadine was described by her tutor David as a positive member of the Level 1 Art and Design class, he said “Nadine has made a variety of thoughtful and visually sophisticated work during her time on the course. She has developed her creative skills across her assignments, making work which evidences her individual artistic approaches. Nadine is a quietly determined student with lots of potential to be a creative star of the future”.

The ‘Student of the Year’ award went to Abi, our Level 3 Photography student, who received the award for her dedication, skill development, increased confidence, and unique approach to photography. Her tutor Natasha, praised her for her ability to “capture compelling documentary photographs that reveal the personality of both the photographer and the subject”

Awards were also given in recognition of our adult students, studying on our Access to Higher Education courses and the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

Foundation Diploma in Art and Design student, David, who returned to formal education as a mature student, received the ‘Student of the Year’ award for his significant personal and academic growth, demonstrating his incredible painting skills in his final project. David is set to take his skills one step further as he pursues a Bachelor's degree in Painting starting in September.

Access to Higher Education Student Jan, was recognised for her excellent work, and maintaining a professional, passionate, and determined approach to pursue her goals, achieving distinctions in every unit.
