Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management


This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the world's largest Chartered HR and people development professional body, with over 140,000 members worldwide.

The CIPD qualifications are the recognised professional standard for HR and training specialists working across the UK's public, private and charity sectors .

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College on either a Monday or Tuesday from 5.00pm - 9.00pm, or Wednesday from 10.00am - 2.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP, however some sessions may be delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams.

What will I study?

You will be taught by industry professionals and will explore the key concepts and elements of human resources.

The following areas will be covered:

  • Organisational performance and business in practice
  • Evidence- based practice
  • Professional behaviours and culture in practice
  • Employment relationship management
  • Talent management and workforce planning
  • Reward for performance and contribution
  • Specialist employment law

How is it assessed?

You will complete a number of assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You will need to show evidence of successful completion of:

  • Human Resource Practice, Learning and Development Practice or equivalent
  • Continuous professional development in the workplace demonstrating competence in understanding business and external environment, managing/coordinating the HR function, contributing to organisational performance, resourcing and talent planning and current thinking in Human Resource Management or Human Resource Development.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £1,223.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover part of your course fees. An Advanced Learner Loan enables you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility is not dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments do not start until you have finished your course and earn over £27,295 per year. There are also a number of payment options including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you may choose to progress on to the level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management.
