Level 3 Certificate in Public Services

This course forms part of the Law Enforcement and Government Professional Programme, incorporating A level Law and A level Politics.

Delivered at the A Level Academy, you will explore everything from government policies and citizenship to leadership and diversity in the public services.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take two years to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will study a range of units such as:

  • Government, policies and the public services
  • Leadership and teamwork in the public services
  • Citizenship, diversity and the public services

You will also have the opportunity to choose from the following:

  • Understanding discipline in the uniformed public services
  • Physical preparation, health and lifestyle for the public services
  • Command and control in the uniformed public services
  • Behaviour in public sector employment

In addition to this, you will also cover a broad range of A level Law and A level Politics topics from government operations, political systems and ideologies that have shaped our society to the legal system, criminal law and discussions surrounding law, morality, justice and technology.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed based on a range of practical and written work, including both internal and external assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2019), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed the Law Enforcement and Government Professional Programme, you will have the opportunity to progress on to university, a higher apprenticeship and a career in the industry.

This Programme could lead to a wide range of careers such as a Border Control Officer, Policy Adviser, Civil Servant, Armed Forces Personnel or Researcher.
