NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
The NEBOSH National Diploma is the flagship NEBOSH award and is the first UK vocational qualification to be developed specifically for health and safety professionals. Since its introduction in 1988 it has become established as the most popular qualification of its kind, with over 10,000 students having successfully gained the Diploma.
The NEBOSH National Diploma is the qualification for aspiring health and safety professionals, building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH National General Certificate. It is designed to provide you with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course has starts dates on the following:
- Unit A: Starts Tuesday 28th February 2017
You will attend college on Tuesday evenings 9.00pm - 4.00pm and will take 14 weeks to complete.
- Unit B: 16th March 2017 - 15th June 2017
You will attend college on a Thursday from 9.00am - 4.00pm and will take 14 weeks to complete.
What will I study?
The NEBOSH Diploma is split into 4 units A, B, C, and D which cover the following:
- Unit A: Managing health and safety
- Unit B: Hazardous agents in the workplace
- Unit C: Workplace and work equipment safety
- Unit D: Application of health and safety theory and practice
You can choose to take individual units in any order over a 5 year period and you will be awarded a unit certificate for each unit passed. At the moment St Helens College is only offering Unit A and Unit B.
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed by written examinations .
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
There are no specific entry requirements but the NEBOSH National Diploma assumes you already have knowledge gained from studying a NEBOSH Certificate, or similar course, and it is highly recommended that you should have achieved such a qualification before starting the NEBOSH Diploma course.
What are the course fees?
The course of the course is:
- Unit A: £1,850
- Unit B: £1,350

This widely recognised qualification enables you to progress your career to the highest level as a practitioner and expert. You will have the academic credentials to be a competent professional.
