Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (Adult Course)
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course is suitable for those who already hold the level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy or practitioners who currently work in this field, such as Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists.
You will develop a thorough understanding of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principles relevant to the application of sports massage.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have gained an approved qualification for Continued Professional Development (CPD) by the Sports Massage Association.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College for one evening per week on a Monday, from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.
This course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.
What will I study?
You will be taught by industry professionals in our fully-equipped gym and sports studio.
The following areas will be covered:
- Advanced palpation skills to analyse posture and range of movement
- Advanced skills and massage techniques
- How to critically evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform future treatments
- Practical anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Applying massage methods to prevents and manage injury
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed through portfolio work, observations and you will complete a candidate log.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You must hold a level 3 sports massage qualification, or equivalent.
What are the course fees?
The total cost of this course is £1,110.
If you are aged 19 or over, you could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover part of your course fees. An Advanced Learner Loan enables you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn't dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don't start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. For the remaining cost, there are a number of flexible payment options available including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.
Alternatively, your employer may be willing to fund your course and we can invoice them directly.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to work independently or within a supervisory position. You will also be qualified to tutor level 1, 2 and 3 in Sports Massage Practitioners.
You will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 5 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.
