Our Beauty department recently hosted a presentation evening to celebrate the achievements of three students that reached the National Finals of the 2022 WorldSkills Competition.

Also in attendance were St Helens College Principal, Simon Pierce, and Director of 14-19 Education, Julie Heap, who as a former WorldSkills judge herself, took the opportunity to congratulate the finalists, commending them for their hard work and determination, and encouraged others to get involved this year.

During the evening they recounted the students journey, from competing in the regional heats in June, to attending the National Finals in London in November, where they were amongst the “Top 8” finalists from across the UK.

Proud Tutor, Ann told us: “I believed in Amanda and Charli right from the beginning, and the pair were brave enough to let me enter them into the competition. We were so excited when we found out they would be going to the finals, and I was extremely proud of them! Although they didn’t place in the final, they are still winners to me and the College. They should be so proud of themselves for competing in the top 8 in the country. I know they will both be very successful in the future, and I wish them the best of luck.”

Beauty Therapy Tutor, Jade said: “Sammie-Jo is a hardworking, motivated, and conscientious student. With each round of the competition, Sammie-Jo has developed her skills and strived to do better than the previous. I know with this positive attitude she will be a success in the beauty industry and will face any challenge head on. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching her for the past year and working alongside her as she achieved her bronze medal!”

Well done to all our students! Competing in competitions like WorldSkills is one of the many ways our students get the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents.
