Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology

In our busy salon, you will develop advanced skills and knowledge in preparation for entering the industry as a qualified Nail Technician.

Exploring a diverse range of nail enhancement treatments such as light cured gel, electric filing and nail art, you will create on-trend designs.

It is also important to understand the science behind these services, in order to accurately recommend the right treatments for a range of nail problems, which is why you will spend time identifying chemicals used in varnishes, solutions and enhancement treatments.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Design and apply nail art
  • Promote and sell products and services
  • Client care and communication
  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Airbrush design for nails
  • Provide manicure and pedicure treatments
  • Apply and maintain nail enhancements
  • Enhance nails using electric files

You will use the latest products and brands such as Glitterbels by Annabel and OPI (which are also vegan friendly), to ensure your skills and knowledge align to industry requirements and trends.

There may also be the opportunity to undertake a trip to the Princess Cruise Liner in Liverpool to gain first-hand insight of working onboard a luxury cruise ship.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by practical observations, written assignments and examination.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have achieved relevant level 2 Beauty Therapy or Nail qualification and have a grade 4 in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you may wish to develop your skills and knowledge within another area of beauty by progressing on to:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
  • Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Makeup Studies
  • Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Studies

Alternatively, you may wish to gain employment in the industry.

Additional Information

As part of this programme, you are required to wear a uniform (tunic), which will be worn with black trousers or a skirt and a full black shoe. Our recommended uniform supplier is Florence Roby. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from our recommended supplier, Dennis Williams. More information will be provided during the application process and you may be eligible for a bursary to cover these costs.
