Level 3 Health and Social Care student, Ellen, has been recognised by Whiston Hospital for her dedication and hard work during challenging circumstances, within her role as a Maternity Health Care Assistant, based on the maternity ward, 2E.
Over the past few months, during what has been a difficult and unprecedented time, Ellen has worked extremely hard in her role on the women’s ward, tending to patients both antenatally (before birth) and postnatally (after birth), to ensure their health and safety.
Ellen is now looking forward to furthering her career as she begins her midwifery degree this September, after receiving an unconditional offer from Liverpool John Moores University!
Ellen commented, “Without the Health and Social Care Cadetship at St Helens College, I wouldn’t be where I am today in my role. As part, of the Cadetship, I had the opportunity to complete a placement on the maternity ward at Whiston Hospital alongside my studies. I enjoyed my placement that much that once it had finished, I decided to apply as bank staff on the ward. This allowed me to grow my skills and experiences further, which gave me the confidence to apply for a permanent position in January.”
