Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (Work-based)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This qualification is designed to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services.

The course provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work in adult social care and to have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for those accessing the service, supporting and developing the workforce, and driving the vision for their service or organisation.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start dates throughout the year and will take two years to complete.

Attendance at College is not required, as the qualification is delivered within the workplace. You will be assigned a tutor/assessor at the beginning of the course, who will work with you throughout the programme.

How is it assessed?

All units are internally assessed. Methods used could include:

  • Interpretation of knowledge from direct observation of practice in the workplace
  • Witness evidence
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflection on own practice in real work situations
  • Written assignments
  • Learner's own plans and written records
  • Learner log or reflective diary
  • Observation
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Scenario or case study
  • Oral questioning

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, it is recommended that you should have achieved a level 3 qualification or above in a related area.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £4,670.

If you are aged 19 or over, you could also choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn't dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don't start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. There are also a number of payment options including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.
