We're proud to announce that our Gas Engineering Apprentice Andrew Poland achieved first place in the regional heat of the HIP Magazine Learner of the Year 2022 competition!

The competition searches for the best up-and-coming industry talent from level 2 and 3 Plumbing and Heating courses nationwide.

Andrew competed against students from other colleges across the North West, completing an installation designed by Jerry Whiteley, Technical Manager at the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and Head Judge of the competition.

The installation was judged on correct measurements, pipe bending, soldering standards, wastage of materials and the quality of finish, including dirty walls and safe working.

Andrew won a number of amazing prizes including a Milwaukee battery operated laser-level, safety glasses, a Triton bar mixer shower, a Fernox central heating system filter and a coffee machine.

He is now through to the national heat, taking place in April, where he will go up against finalists from across the country for the title. Best of luck Andrew!
