Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing Studies (Adult Course)
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course provides an excellent introduction to plumbing within the construction industry and is the first step towards a successful career as a Plumber.
You will learn how to use hand tools as you master the art of pipe bending and soldering techniques, whilst working towards installing bathrooms and heating systems.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College one day per week, from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.
This course will take place at our Green Energy Skills Centre, Langtree Street, St Helens, WA9 1AR.
What will I study?
During this course, you will cover the following:
- Health and safety
- Basic principles and jointing processes
- Scientific principles of plumbing
- Principles of hot water
- Principles of cold water
- Principles of heating and sanitation systems
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You do not need any formal qualifications, just passion and a commitment to your studies.
What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Once you have successfully completed this course, you could progress on to the Level 2 Certificate in Plumbing to enhance your skills and knowledge, or an apprenticeship with an employer.
