Level 2 Technical Certificate in Site Carpentry (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course provides the opportunity to gain valuable work experience alongside your course.

You will study flooring and roofing, frames, partitions and stairs as well as carpentry maintenance.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College three days per week, from 9.00am - 4.30pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Langtree Centre, St Helens WA9 1AR.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Carrying out first fixing operations
  • Carrying out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work
  • Carrying out second fixing operations
  • Carrying out structural carcassing operations
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Preparing and using carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • Understanding construction technology
  • Understanding information, quantities and communication with others

How is it assessed?

During this course, you'll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully completed a level 1 Carpentry and Joinery qualification or have achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

The course fee is £994. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you could enhance your skills and knowledge by undertaking the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Site Carpentry or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship to gain on-the-job skills and experience.
