Level 1 Diploma in Plastering (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course provides an excellent introduction to the world of plastering within the construction industry.

You'll explore a range of building methods and construction technology, developing skills in wet plastering and dry lining. You'll learn how to prepare surfaces, mix plaster materials and apply and set plaster coats.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College two days per week, from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, STEM Centre Campus, St Helens WA9 1TT.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Applying plaster materials to internal backgrounds
  • Forming sand and cement screeds
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
  • Preparing background surfaces and plaster materials

How is it assessed?

During this course, you'll be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

This course is the first step towards launching a career as a successful Plasterer. You could progress on to the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Plastering to enhance your skills and knowledge or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship to gain on-the-job skills and experience.
