Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This advanced level course is the final step to preparing your for a successful career in the industry.

You will cover everything from the principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems, to planning and overseeing electrical work activities and electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College three days per week, from 9.00am - 4.30pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, STEM Centre Campus, St Helens WA9 1TT.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Planning and overseeing electrical work activities
  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical design and installation practices and procedures
  • Principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems
  • Inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical systems
  • Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Requirements for electrical installations

How is it assessed?

During this course, you'll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully completed the level 2 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation.

What are the course fees?

The course fee is £3,345. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees. An Advanced Learner Loan enables you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility is not dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments do not start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
