Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems Training Course (Unvented Hot Water)
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course is aimed at plumbing and heating engineers, who want to install Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems and demonstrate their competency in the design, installation, and servicing of vented and unvented hot water systems.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course has various start dates throughout the year and will take one day to complete.
The course takes place at St Helens College's Green Energy Skills Centre, St Helens, WA9 1AR.
What will I study?
Topics covered include:
- Understanding the requirements of Part G of the Building Regulations relating to the design, installation and service and maintenance of Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems and how to comply with the Regulations paying particular attention to unvented cylinders.
- Identifying typical faults associated with the installation/maintenance of Domestic Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems
- Understanding the impact of other Building Regulations as they relate to the design, installation and service and maintenance of hot water storage systems, in particular Part L1 and Part P
You will also complete assessments to confirm your competence in the above aims.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
Trainees must hold a recognised trade qualification (e.g., NVQ/SNVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating or Domestic Heating) or be working towards one or have evidence of a minimum of 2 years' experience in the plumbing or heating industry.
What are the course fees?
The total cost of this course is £200.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have achieved the competencies required to either join a Competent Persons' Scheme allowing the self-certification of installations, or to notify the local Building Control department prior to commencing work.
